New Online Ration Card Application Process in Bihar

Residents of Bihar can now apply for ration cards from the comfort of their homes. The state government has launched a new online application system aimed at simplifying the process and reducing congestion in government offices. This initiative is expected to benefit elderly individuals and women, who often face difficulties accessing such services. Applicants can initiate the process by signing up as new users under 'My Identity' at rconline.bihar.gov.in.

Application Process and Required Documents

The registration is completed through OTP verification, after which applicants can fill out the application form with family details and uploaded documents. Required documents include an Aadhaar card, bank passbook, proof of residence, a family photograph (in JPG or JPEG format), a photo of the applicant's signature, and, if applicable, self-attested photocopies of disability, income, or caste certificates. Once the application is submitted, a reference number is sent via SMS to track the application status.

Benefits of the One Nation One Ration Card Scheme

Under the 'One Nation One Ration Card' scheme, beneficiaries can obtain food grains from any ration shop in Bihar or other states. So far, over 8.9 million ration card holders in Bihar have benefited from this portability. Currently, families under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana receive 35 kilograms of grains monthly, which includes 7 kilograms of wheat and 28 kilograms of rice, while each priority household beneficiary receives 5 kilograms of grains—1 kilogram of wheat and 4 kilograms of rice—free of charge. Essential items like pulses, salt, and oil are also provided under this scheme.
