Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Ghana’s highest state honour in recognition of his distinguished statesmanship and impactful global leadership during his state visit to Accra. The prestigious award was presented following a bilateral meeting with Ghanaian President John Mahama at Jubilee House.

The two leaders held wide-ranging talks focused on enhancing India-Ghana relations and signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), including agreements on cultural cooperation and traditional music. Addressing the media after the meeting, Prime Minister Modi announced that both nations have agreed to elevate their ties to the level of a Comprehensive Partnership.

Modi received a ceremonial welcome upon arrival, which included a guard of honour and a 21-gun salute at the airport, reflecting the deep respect and warmth extended by the Ghanaian government.

This visit marks a significant milestone in India’s diplomatic outreach to Africa and underscores the growing importance of strategic and cultural ties between New Delhi and Accra.
