Despite his impressive form and growing support from fans and experts, Kuldeep Yadav has once again been left out of India's playing XI in the second Test against England at Edgbaston. The decision has raised eyebrows, especially as many believed the left-arm wrist-spinner deserved a spot after being overlooked in the first Test as well.

Ravindra Jadeja Responds on Kuldeep’s Exclusion

Ravindra Jadeja, speaking to the media after the second day’s play, addressed the issue and praised Kuldeep’s skill, while offering some philosophical advice.

"Whenever Kuldeep Yadav gets a chance, he will definitely perform well. He is a wicket-taking bowler. I've spent time with him — we never talk about cricket when we’re together. A player should always focus on what he can control," said Jadeja.

The statement hints at the importance of mental resilience and patience in team selection dynamics, especially in a squad with strong competition for limited spots.

Kuldeep’s Test Record: Strong Numbers, Limited Chances

Despite being one of India's most promising spinners in recent years, Kuldeep Yadav has played only 13 Test matches, taking 56 wickets at an excellent average of 22.16, including four five-wicket hauls.

These stats make his continued exclusion all the more puzzling to many fans and analysts.

Why Was Kuldeep Dropped Again?

Jadeja indirectly pointed to the Edgbaston pitch, saying:

“So far, I haven’t seen a single ball spin in the last two days. Maybe as the match progresses, there will be something for the spinners.”

This suggests that the team management preferred a combination suited for the pace-friendly conditions, possibly opting for an extra fast bowler instead of an additional spinner like Kuldeep.

Match Update: India in Command
  • India 1st Innings: 587 all out

    • Shubman Gill: 269 (career-best)

    • Ravindra Jadeja: 89

  • England 1st Innings (End of Day 2): 77/3

    • Joe Root: 18*

    • Harry Brook: 30*

    • Shoaib Bashir (ENG): 3 wickets

India has taken firm control of the Test match, but the absence of Kuldeep remains a talking point, especially if the pitch starts assisting spin later.
