Marcus Rashford's chances of leaving Manchester United this summer may have been boosted thanks to ongoings in Spain. The forward is keen to leave his boyhood side this summer after falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim.
Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan in the January transfer window, but Unai Emery's side have since announced that they have opted against activating the £40million option to buy him which was inserted in the deal, leaving the forward in limbo once again.
The England international almost certainly doesn't have a future at Old Trafford, but his next move will be decisive in ensuring he can prove his worth to Thomas Tuchel ahead of next summer's World Cup.
Barcelona are long-term admirers of the 27-year-old and have been linked to making a fresh approach this summer, though Bayern Munich entered the picture earlier in the window - and a move to the Allianz Arena could now be on the cards.
Both of the aforementioned outfits, as well as Arsenal, were keen to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao this summer, but the Spaniard has now opted against a move away in favour of penning a new and improved contract at the Estadio San Mames. His release clause has increased significantly as a result, all but ruling out a summer switch.
As a result, it would be no great surprise for Barca or Bayern to now turn their attention to Rashford, who is firmly in the shop window at the Theatre of Dreams. United have been firm in that they would be willing to accept an offer in the region of £40m for their academy graduate and they could also be open to another loan deal.
Barcelona's financial woes could prove an issue with the Red Devils if they opt to try and negotiate a permanent deal for Rashford. Bayern, in contract, are set to lose Leroy Sane as a free agent and thus there will be a ready-made position on the left for Rashford which could prove attractive.
Working alongside England skipper Harry Kane could also be a deciding factor for the playmaker, especially if they are able to strike up a link-up that Tuchel would find hard to ignore. However, Bayern remain keen on Luis Diaz at Liverpool as well which could point him more towards Barca.
