Harry Brook was instrumental in England's recovery against India on Day 3 of the second Test match at Edgbaston, Birmingham. He carried on his innings from 30* with Joe Root and played in a composed and controlled manner.

Brook completed a solid half-century off 73 balls to help England stabilize after two top-order wickets fell in the first few overs of the day.

Despite a difficult morning for England, Brook maintained his concentration. He didn't just remain at the crease, instead, he scored freely and put on a solid partnership with Jamie Smith.

Brook played some good shots in his knock, scoring seven fours and a six. His fifty steadied the innings after England were reduced to 84 for 5. At the start of Day 3, England were still behind by 510 runs as India had posted a huge score of 587. But Brook stood firm and provided some hope for England.

With this innings, Harry Brook achieved his 13th Test half-century and second in the Indian series. More significantly, it was his 17th 50+ score in Test cricket since January 2023. This ranks him at number two for the most 50+ scores in this period, behind Joe Root's 19.

Prior to this innings, Brook and Yashasvi Jaiswal were equal second. But now Brook takes over with 17, while Jaiswal falls to third with 16. Other players in the list are Ben Duckett (15), Dinesh Chandimal (13), and Travis Head (13).

Brook's knock supplemented his individual success as well as assisted England to reach the 200-run mark without much effort. During Lunch, England were 249 for 5 courtesy of Jamie Smith's unbeaten hundred and Brook's aggressive 91*. Their intelligent and aggressive play saw England recover from the early pressure. Brook and Smith provided some cheer to England fans amidst India's commanding lead.
