Due to the humidity in the monsoon, bacteria and fungus can grow in the fridge, which spoil the food and cause diseases. Regarding this, FSSAI has advised cleaning and defrosting the fridge every 15 days.

The monsoon season is considered not only a season of humidity but also of diseases. In this season, not only the food outside spoils quickly, but the food kept at home also needs special care. In view of this season and to avoid diseases, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has given a special advice to the people which people usually ignore.

According to FSSAI, the fridge should be cleaned thoroughly once every 15 days during the monsoon season. Apart from this, it is also necessary to defrost it. This advice is very important not only for cleanliness but also for the safety of food and prevention of diseases.

Bacteria and fungus grow due to humidity

The main reason behind FSSAI's advice is the increased humidity in monsoon. According to some experts, there is more humidity in the atmosphere during monsoon, due to which moisture starts accumulating inside the fridge as well. This moisture is caused by the growth of bacteria and fungus which can infect the food kept in our fridge.

Risk of food poisoning and infection

If the fridge is not cleaned from time to time, then the moisture and leftover food particles present in it can cause diseases. Actually, people can have problems like diarrhea, stomach infection, vomiting food poisoning due to consumption of infected food. Especially people whose immunity is weak. It can be even more dangerous for them.

Cleaning improves health as well as the performance of the fridge

If you clean the fridge every 15 days during the monsoon season, then it will not only affect your health. But the working capacity of the fridge will also improve. By defrosting from time to time, layers of ice will not form in the fridge. Due to which there is no problem in cooling and the fridge also consumes less electricity.

How to take care of the cleanliness of the fridge

To clean the fridge, turn off the fridge once every 15 days. After this, take out all the stuff from it. Now you can clean the fridge thoroughly from inside as well. Also, you can wipe the fridge with a dry cloth. Apart from this, there is a defrost option in the fridge, by turning it on, you can also melt the ice frozen in the fridge. At the same time, you can also clean the door rubber, tray, corners and stall of the fridge thoroughly.
