Gary Lineker has been spotted on the BBC for the first time since being axed from Match of the Day. The broadcasting legend had previously agreed to step down from the football commentating show after hoting the BBC's coverage of the FA Cup next season before fronting their World Cup 2026 offering.
But he later announced that he would be leaving the corporation early, in May, after a social media fallout that arose when he shared a post about Zionism. The controversial post featured a rat - a symbol that has historically been used as an antisemitic insult. The incident marked the end of Lineker's 25-year career with the BBC. However, today he was spotted on the broadcaster's cameras once more as he enjoyed a few matches of tennis at Wimbledon.
He was snapped laughing and joking alongside boxer Anthony Joshua after they arrived in the Royal Box on day five at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in London on Friday, July 4, 2025.
