Gardeners' World fans were dealt a blow as host Adam Frost announced an update at the end of the episode.

Friday's instalment saw Adam Frost, Rachel de Thame and Frances Tophill broadcasting from the RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival. Despite their enjoyment of the annual event, there was a hint of melancholy as they concluded the show.

Rachel remarked: "Well unfortunately that's it for us from the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival but the show is open until Sunday and I really recommend you come along if you can.

Adam revealed: "And I'm sad to say we won't be here next week because of Wimbledon but the following week we'll be at RHS Flower Show Wentworth Woodhouse. "Frances added: "It's a new stunning location for our last flower show of the season so hopefully we'll see you there.

"The programme offered viewers advice on how to modify their gardens to support the dwindling hedgehog population. They also visited a chilli farm in South Devon, where a couple displayed their various varieties.

However, an unexpected celebrity guest appeared, sharing his passion for nature with Adam.Former Strictly Come Dancing winner Bill Bailey confessed: "The garden is a bit of a sanctuary, I'm away a lot. I come home and I just want something where I can go out and just relax.

I love this sort of scenario, where it's quite wild. " Adam queried the comedian about his burgeoning interest in birdwatching, to which Bill revealed it began in his childhood, influenced by his family's passion for the hobby.

He reminisced: "We would go out to a bird sanctuary or a bird reserve, that was a typical day out, reports Gloucestershire Live.

I think my mum, more than anyone she had this desire for me to foster this love of nature. "Bill recalled his mother's words with fondness, sharing: "I remember her saying to me, 'I just want you to love nature'.

That was a massive mantra she repeated over and over again, and it has, it's had this effect on me throughout my entire life."

In conversation with the BBC presenter, Bill expressed that there's no greater joy for him than to immerse himself in the tranquillity of nature while taking a break from his touring schedule.
