Soham Parekh, an Indian software engineer, has found himself in the eye of a Silicon Valley controversy after being accused of working simultaneously for multiple tech startups without disclosing the overlap.

The allegations surfaced after Suhail Doshi, co-founder and former CEO of analytics platform Mixpanel, publicly criticised Parekh’s conduct in a detailed post on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

Doshi alleged that Parekh had been dividing his time between three to four early-stage startups, misleading founders and colleagues who were unaware of his multiple commitments. “I want to also say that I tried to talk sense into this guy, explain the impact, and give him a chance to turn a new leaf because sometimes that's what a person needs. But it clearly didn't work,” he wrote. He also cast doubt on the legitimacy of Parekh’s CV, saying “90 per cent of his resume seems fake, and most links are gone.”

A Look At Soham Parekh's CV

According to the CV shared by Doshi, Parekh’s academic background includes a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology (2020–2022) and a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from the University of Mumbai, where he graduated with a GPA of 9.83 out of 10.

Professionally, Parekh has held engineering positions at several startups, primarily in remote roles. Most recently, he worked as a Senior Software Engineer (Contract) at DynamoAI, where he was involved in developing a dashboard with D3 and visx, enhancing backend systems with Nest.js, and improving ML model deployment via AWS Marketplace integrations. He also contributed to security vulnerability mitigation, reducing known issues from 609 to just two, according to his resume.

Stints in Fullstack Roles Across Startups

Prior to DynamoAI, Parekh served as a Senior Fullstack Engineer at Union.ai, where he helped build Flyte and Union Cloud Console using Go, Python, and React. His responsibilities included real-time workflow visualisation, metrics programming, and platform redesigns.

He earlier worked at Synthesia as a Senior Fullstack Engineer, contributing to its in-browser video editing tools with real-time collaboration features and algorithm optimisation. In 2021, he joined Alan AI as a Founding Software Engineer, leading development on internal visualisation tools, a training platform, and microservices infrastructure.

His professional journey began with an Open Source Fellowship at GitHub in 2020, where he contributed Windows support to the Node Version Manager (NVM) project.

Notably, Parekh has acknowledged these accusations and admitted that he did moonlight several companies, stating that he made 'poor choices'. In a post on X, he said, "What I did was wrong. I made poor choices. This has been a lesson for me. I will turn this around Back to building."

While the allegations remain under discussion within tech circles, the resume paints a picture of a highly active developer engaged across a spectrum of machine learning and software engineering projects. The case has reignited debate around moonlighting ethics and employment transparency in the tech world.
