Instagram: In today's digital world, Instagram is not just a platform for sharing photos and videos, but it has become a big source of income. Millions of users are not only making their identity through this social media app but are also earning a lot. But the question arises that when and how do you start getting money on Instagram? Do you get money only from likes and followers or are there some other conditions?

Does Instagram itself pay?

There is no direct monetization system on Instagram like YouTube in which earnings are made through ads. But Instagram has now started "Instagram Creator Monetization" features in some limited countries such as Badges in Live, Reels Bonuses and Affiliate Program, from which some creators can earn money. Currently, these features are not available to everyone in India, but still millions of creators are earning through brand deals, sponsorships and promotions.

How many followers do you need to start earning money?

Earnings on Instagram depend on the number of followers, your engagement rate and the quality of the content. Generally, if your engagement is good (i.e. likes, comments and story views are regular), then small brands can contact you for promotion. You can get Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 for a post. At this level, you are considered a mid-level influencer. Big companies or startups can pay Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 for sponsorship. You become a macro or mega influencer. You can get up to lakhs of rupees for a post, especially if your engagement is tremendous.

Do you get money from likes?

You do not get money directly from likes. But these in a way reflect your engagement. The more likes and comments you have, the more confident the brands will be that people are liking your content and it will have an impact on promoting their products. This is why brands decide the deal only after seeing the likes and views on your post.

What other ways do you earn money?

Brand sponsorship: Companies promote their products through your account.

Affiliate marketing: You give a link to a product in a story or post, and get a commission on the purchase from that link.

Product sales: You can sell your own digital or physical products like clothes, courses, ebooks etc.

Instagram Live Badges: Fans can support you by buying badges in Live (available in limited countries only).
