During the ongoing second Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 between India and England at Edgbaston, a woman in Team India's support staff kit was seen smiling at ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah during England’s first innings.

The woman in context is Yasmin Badiani, who is a sports professional currently working with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as part of their Team Operations unit. While users on social media speculated about her presence and role in the Indian team, and her interaction with Bumrah. Yasmin has been officially assigned by the ECB to assist the visiting Indian team throughout their England tour.

Her role involves coordinating travel, match logistics, practice schedules, and stadium access. It’s standard for the host cricket board to appoint a contact from their operations team to manage smooth communication between the visiting team and the home board.

Many fans were confused and curious about Yasmin wearing the Indian training kit. However, given her role within the Indian team’s day-to-day functioning, she is expected to wear the team kit to maintain a professional appearance while performing her operational duties.

Yasmin Badiani, a Physiotherapy graduate from the University of Leicester (2010), began her career in healthcare, working at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. From 2010 to 2013, she served as a Sports Physiotherapist for Leicester City Football Club, supporting the academy players during training and match days.  She then came into sports business leadership, taking up roles as Head of Sport at Phizz Ltd and Head of O.R.S Sport at Clinova, where she worked closely with athletes to promote hydration and recovery solutions.

In August 2022, Yasmin joined the ECB’s Operations Team, where she has since played an important role in facilitating smooth functioning for national and visiting teams. Interestingly, Bumrah was not part of the playing XI for the second Test, having been rested to manage his workload.
