Vicky McClure is poised for an exciting career twist, as the Line of Duty star prepares to swap her acting chops for a microphone.

In a thrilling update from Reverend and the Makers, it's been unveiled that the acclaimed actress will feature on their upcoming single. The band took to the digital sphere to share the news with fans.

On Twitter/X, the group couldn't contain their excitement, declaring: "ANNOUNCEMENT KLAXON." They continued: "Absolutely buzzing to announce we have a new single about to drop featuring, on lead vocals for the first time ever, the living legend @Vicky_McClure, (plus a bit on @jonathanowen71 on bass)".

"Stay tuned for the video which stars another living legend. Let's show some love for Vicky the singer, right?"

Accompanying the announcement was a sneak peek of the music video for the song titled Haircut, showcasing Vicky and frontman Jon McClure electrifying an ecstatic audience, reports the Mirror.

Vicky echoed the sentiment on her own social media, exclaiming: "First for everything! No one cooler to do it with! @Reverend_Makers," capped off with a trio of red heart emojis.

The revelation has sent fans into a frenzy, with comments pouring in praising Vicky's versatility. One admirer wrote: "Is there anything Vicky McClure cant do? Nice to see another McClure join The Makers."

Another chimed in with: "Proper tunnnnnnne," and yet another simply expressed: "Oh wow." This musical venture coincides with Reverend and the Makers' triumphant performance at Glastonbury over the weekend. But fear not, television enthusiasts; Vicky isn't turning her back on the small screen just yet, as she teases further projects on the horizon.

She's also slated to appear in an upcoming Channel 5 drama titled Insomnia. The new psychological thriller centres around Emma (Vicky), a successful woman grappling with sleep deprivation weeks before her 40th birthday.

The Radio Times described it as: "Successful lawyer Emma Averill is terrified that she is destined to suffer the same fate as her mother and experience a violent psychotic breakdown on her 40th birthday as a result of inherited 'bad blood'.

"A couple of weeks before the milestone, Emma stops sleeping and her world begins to unravel, straining her relationship with her husband Robert and children Chloe and Will. As her mental state fractures, Emma resolves to confront her family history to prevent tragedy striking successive generations."

Alongside Vicky, the thriller boasts a cast including Tom Cullen, Leanne Best and Jade Harrison. Originally a Paramount+ series, the drama has now found its home on Five.

This six-part series is an adaptation of the 2022 novel of the same name, penned by bestselling author Sarah Pinborough. Vicky also serves as Executive Producer on the screen adaptation.
