Muharram in 2025 will fall on Sunday, July 6. Depending on the sighting of the moon, however, the date might differ. If the moon is not sighted on July 5 evening, the holiday can be celebrated on Monday, July 7. Students and parents should check the final holiday date with their individual schools.

Rath Yatra on July 7: Closure of Regional Schools Possible

Rath Yatra, also taking place this year on July 7, is widely observed in states such as Odisha. The schools in those areas might not function on the festival day, but this will depend on local decisions.

Kanwar Yatra Could Affect School Timings in Some States

The Kanwar Yatra, usually held in the latter half of July, may result in school shutdowns in certain areas of northern India like Noida, Ghaziabad, and Haridwar.
