Traveling between Delhi and Jaipur has become significantly quicker with the inauguration of a new 66.9-km segment of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, known as the Bandikui-Jaipur spur. This new route has cut down the travel duration to approximately three hours. The stretch was opened for trial runs on July 2, during which the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) waived toll fees for the day.
This route links Bandikui in the Dausa district directly to Jaipur, providing a more efficient alternative to the often congested NH-48 and NH-21. Once toll collection commences, the fare for traveling from Jaipur is expected to range between Rs 600 and Rs 690.
NHAI representatives have indicated that a thorough safety audit and final inspection of the expressway will take place during the toll-free trial period, paving the way for its official opening. The spur, constructed at an investment of around Rs 1,368 crore, features several interchanges, including one at Khuri, to facilitate smooth traffic flow into Jaipur.
During the trial phase, vehicles can travel at speeds up to 120 km/h. This expressway is anticipated to not only decrease travel time but also conserve fuel and lower transportation expenses. Commuters can now reach Jaipur from Bandikui in just 30 minutes, with the overall journey from Delhi to Jaipur taking between 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on traffic conditions.
