The club confirmed the signing of French striker Alexandre Lacazette on a free transfer from Lyon on July 2. Lacazette is the most high-profile addition to the team so far, highlighting NEOM SC’s ambitions to become a global football powerhouse despite being a newcomer to the league.
Backed by Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF), NEOM SC previously secured goalkeeper Marcin Bulka from OGC Nice and is finalizing a US$34 million move for Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey, The Times reported.
The club have no intention of slowing down, with plans to invest at least €100 million ($117 million) more in the transfer market. Among the names linked are Said Benrahma (West Ham United), Amadou Kone (Reims) and Corentin Tolisso (Lyon).
NEOM SC’s Christophe Galtier, former manager of PSG and Nice, is expected to bring tactical discipline and experience to the squad.
According to The teamthe club’s leadership has set a five-year goal to qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup and challenge domestic powerhouses such as Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad.
Supported by PIF, which holds over $1 trillion in assets, NEOM SC are not just a football team but a flagship of Saudi Vision 2030, a project to diversify the economy and elevate its global stature through sports.
A key symbol of this ambition will be the NEOM Stadium, slated for completion in 2033. Designed to hold 46,000 spectators and suspended 350 m above ground, it aims to be a symbol for the club’s ambition.
