On Thursday, Rashmika Mandanna teased fans about an upcoming project featuring her in a never-before-seen avatar, declaring that she would personally meet anyone who could guess the title.

On Friday morning, she announced what is said to be her first solo lead role, titled Mysa, named after her character in the film directed by Rawindra Pulle, known for the 2021 film Ardha shathabadham and his work as assistant director on Sita Ramam, in which Rashmika played one of the main characters.

Sharing the first-look poster, the Pushpa and Chhaava actress wrote that fans can expect a performance she has never attempted before: “I always try to give you something new… something different… something exciting… And this… This is one of those… A character I’ve never played before… a world I’ve never stepped into… and a version of me that even I hadn’t met till now… It’s fierce… it’s intense and it’s extremely raw… I am so nervous and super excited. I genuinely cannot wait for you to see what we’re going to be creating… This is just the beginning…”

Produced by Ajay and Anil Sayyapureddy under the banner of Unformula Films and co-produced by Sai Gopa, the Telugu-language film will reportedly have Rashmika essaying a woman from the Gond community. From the poster, it is assumed that the character is a ferocious warrior.

Unformula Films, while sharing the poster, wrote that this is a character “raised with grit” and “relentless in will.”

“She roars. Not to be heard, but to be feared,” the makers added.

Last seen in Adds with Dhanush and Nagarjuna, Rashmika’s upcoming films include Maddock Films’ 100 With Ayushmann Khurrana and Director Rahul Ravindran’s The Girlfriend.

Rashmika, who debuted 9 years ago in Church partyappeared in three consecutive hits in the last couple of years — Animal (with Ranbir Kapoor), Pushpa 2: The Rule (with Allu Arjun), and Chhaava (with Vicky Kaushal).

Since these films mostly revolved around their male protagonists, it remains to be seen whether the actress, who has proven herself capable of serious, performance-oriented roles in films such as Dear Comradecan pull off a hit as a solo lead. Nevertheless, it’s a step in the right direction.
