‘Metro In Dino’ Box Office Collection Day 3: Anurag Basu’s 'Metro In Dino' is off to a solid start at the box office. The romantic musical drama, which brings together a power-packed cast including Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditya Roy Kapur, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Ali Fazal, Sara Ali Khan and Fatima Sana Shaikh, has collected a commendable ₹16.75 crore over its opening weekend.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned ₹3.5 crore on its first day (Friday), followed by a healthy jump to ₹6 crore on Saturday. The upward trend continued on Sunday, with the movie earning ₹7.25 crore, bringing its three-day total to ₹16.75 crore.

'Metro In Dino' Occupancy Rate

The film’s occupancy rate on Sunday stood at 39.75% overall, with the highest footfalls recorded during the afternoon and evening shows, at 46.62% and 57.14% respectively. Morning shows saw 15.98% occupancy, while night shows recorded 39.27%.

'Life... In A Metro' Sequel

Directed by Anurag Basu and featuring music by Pritam, 'Metro In Dino' is a spiritual successor to the 2007 film 'Life... In A Metro', which explored urban loneliness and love through interwoven stories. While the original was a critical and commercial success, the new instalment appears to be doing even better in terms of box office figures. Interestingly, Konkona Sen Sharma is the only key cast member to return from the original film.

In a recent interview, Anurag Basu revealed that the idea for the sequel was deeply inspired by the late Irrfan Khan, who starred in the original. His absence is felt, but the new ensemble brings its own charm and emotional depth to the screen.

The romantic musical is facing stiff competition from the newly released 'Jurassic World Rebirth', which burst onto the scene with ₹9 crore opening. However, with positive word-of-mouth and strong audience engagement, 'Metro In Dino' is expected to maintain momentum in the coming days.
