Former Indian cricket team captain, known as Captain Cool, MS Dhoni is celebrating his 44th birthday on July 7. Born in 1981 in Ranchi, Bihar (now in Jharkhand), Dhoni is regarded as one of the greatest captains in cricket history. He stepped away from international cricket in 2020 but continues to play in the IPL, where he captained the team last season in place of Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Dhoni's father, Pan Singh, and mother, Devaki Devi, raised him as the youngest among his siblings. He completed his schooling at DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir, where he initially learned to play football as a goalkeeper. Following his coach's advice, he transitioned to cricket. From 2001 to 2003, Dhoni also worked as a TTE with Indian Railways.

Following India's 2007 World Cup victory, Dhoni was appointed captain across all formats in 2008. He played a total of 332 international matches as captain, including 60 Tests, 200 ODIs, and 72 T20s, leading India to 179 victories while facing 120 defeats.
