A whole new host of famous faces will be appearing at Wimbledon today. The tennis competition, which is broadcast by the BBC, attracts all kinds of superstars - but there is one celebrity who is making a surprise appearance.
BBC legend, Sir Lenny Henry, 66, is said to be among those attending on Monday, with his partner, Lisa Makin, 65 in a rare appearance. He is famed for being the co-founder of Comic Relief but is also well-known as a comedian and TV presenter. He is expected to be welcomed into the Royal Box, joining other huge names in showbiz and sport. Another funnyman who is expected to join him there is comedian Michael McIntyre and his wife, Kitty.
Another TV personality being welcomed into the prestigious box is sports presenter Gabby Logan and her sporting husband, former Scottish rugby union player, Kenny Logan. They will be joining other sporting legends, including Olympic gold medallist Imogen Grant and former tennis champion Roger Federer.
The Royal Box has been used for the entertainment of friends and guests of Wimbledon since 1922. British and overseas Royal Families are invited as well as heads of government, people from the world of tennis, commercial partners, British armed forces, prominent media organisations, supporters of British tennis and other walks of life.
The prestigious invitations into the box cannot be bought as they come from the Chair of the All England Club, who take into account suggestions from members of The Championships' Organising Committee, The Lawn Tennis Association.
Tickets into the sophisticated area include and invite to the Clubhouse for lunch, tea and drinks at the end of the day. However, guests must adhere to a strict dress code with them being asked to look "smart", with ladies being banned from wearing hats so that they don't obscure the vision of those seated behind them.
Plenty of stars have adorned the Royal Box this summer for the 2025 Championships. So far, they have included Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, David Beckham, Bear Grylls and even WWE superstar John Cena.
Andrew Garfield made a surprise appearance in the Royal Box at Wimbledon's Centre Court on Sunday. The Spiderman actor was spotted on the same day as London model and socialite Poppy Delevingne. Other celebrities spotted at Sunday's game were Chris Kamara, Lily Collins, James Guy and Tom Dean.
