Dartford Crossing experienced severe delays after a minor crash and breakdowns took place in the tunnel. The incidents led to a backlog, resulting in congestion and delays of up to an hour for drivers in the area. Heavy congestion built up on the anticlockwise carriageway between Essex and Kent, while traffic on the clockwise route remained slow but more manageable.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix, said at around 8:30am: "Severe delays on M25 anticlockwise from J3 M20 (Swanley Interchange) to J29 A127 (Romford/Basildon). Travel time is over 60 minutes. To go 14 miles, via the Dartford Tunnels, after a few breakdowns and a minor accident early on."
