Bargain Hunt viewers were impressed by the show's latest offering after both the blue and red teams left the auction with staggering sales and profit. The BBC's show host, Christina Trevanion, introduced the red team, Ollie and Tor, best friends hoping to win the competition alongside their expert Kate Bliss. Meanwhile, the blue team were made up with pals Matt and Hamid were paired with antiques expert Gary Pe.
After heading to the auction, both the teams and their pros were awarded the coveted golden gravel in a rare move. This marked what fans labelled as a "new era" for the show. The final total was close between the competitors, but ultimately, the red team won the episode after selling £277 worth of goods, leaving the blue team trailing behind with just £6 between them. One shocked viewer remarked: "£271, golden gavels all round, and still runners up. Absolutely amazing. Well done to the teams and experts today."
A second viewer remarked: "That's nice. I don't think Gary has much profit experience or golden gavels."
Another added: "Fantastic profits for both teams on #BargainHunt and it was close. That £271 must be one of the biggest profits ever made by a losing team!"
As one praised the moment as "A new era of #bargainhunt PROFIT!" One fan posted: "When an episode of Bargain Hunt ends in both teams winning Golden Gavels and making over £270 profit and ends up ruining your day."
The red team's win was taken to another level after they used their big spend to purchase a bronze train nameplate which said Western Tor and was ultimately bought for "good luck" as it also had the teammate's name on the plate.
After using a chunk of their money to buy the sign for £75, Ollie and Tor were over the moon and saw an impressive profit after the item went to auction and sold for £260.
Before heading to the auction, the university students admitted that this was their favourite of their lot. Tor said: " Definitely the sign because it had my name on it." Ollie agreed: "I do like the little jug, but I do really like the sign."
The auctioneer also praised their find, saying: "I can't find out much about it, mid-century I would say ... it's so nice, it's ever so heavy, bronze and black-painted," as he estimated: "I've gone £80-£120."
Whereas the blue team got their big sale thanks to a folding game table, which they purchased for £75 as their big spend. They were also impressed to see the item sell at auction for £240.
