Dan Walker has shared his true feelings about his rival TV show as he shares return update after going "missing". Last week the 48-year-old broadcaster received a wave of questions about his recent absence from his Channel 5 News gig and his ClassicFM show.

The dad-of-three reassured fans that he hasn't quit either job and was simply enjoying a well-deserved family holiday. But on Monday (July 7), Dan baffled fans as he shared his love for his rival show on Instagram. Sharing a series of snaps from his time on BBC Breakfast, he reflected on his six-year stint on the famous red sofa.

The presenter could be seen beaming alongside his former co-stars including Carol Kirkwood, Louise Minchin, and Sally Nugent to name a few.

He captioned the post: "This popped up on my 'memories' this morning. I loved my 6-and-a-hald years on @bbcbreakfast. Brilliant programme with brilliant people."

Dan went on to reassure fans that he will be returning to the airwaves this afternoon to bring the latest news to listeners and viewers all over the UK.

He concluded: "Back from my holidays and back on @classicfm today [heart emoji]." It comes after the broadcaster explained why he "disappeared" from our screens over the past few weeks.

Speaking from his car, he told fans: "I've been asked by quite a few people if I've left Channel 5 and why I've disappeared from ClassicFM. The answer is twofold.

"The first is I'm on holiday with the family for a couple of weeks. And the second is that I'm filming a new series for Channel 5 which you'll be able to see I think in September which I can't tell you too much about. But it's gonna be great fun. So that's why I've not been on the telly."

Dan, who presents the Sunday afternoon show on ClassicFM, added: "I'll be back on the radio on Monday, and back on 5 News in a couple of weeks' time once I've finished filming this series."

Dan joined Channel 5 in 2022 after six years fronting BBC Breakfast, where he replaced Bill Turnbull in 2016. His first show aired on February 29 alongside Louise Minchin.

He later hit headlines when BBC pay disclosures revealed he was earning almost double that of his female co-host - though Dan pointed out he was working across a number of programmes.

Before joining Channel 5, the Sheffield-born presenter fronted Football Focus for over a decade, and also worked on Match of the Day, Final Score, and BBC Radio 5 Live.

He was a key part of the BBC Sport team during major events including the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the Rio 2016 Olympics and Tokyo 2020.

In 2021, he swapped the newsroom for the ballroom when he competed in Strictly Come Dancing with his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova.
