King Frederik of Denmark has put on a low-key attendance at Wimbledon as he takes some time away from royal duties. The Danish royal was spotted on Court Number One at the tennis tournament as he watched the match between Chile's Nicolas Jarry and Britain's Cameron Norrie.

Dressed in a grey suit, the 57-year-old was not accompanied by his wife, Queen Mary. According to the Danish royal family's calendar, King Frederik is on holiday until July 13. His son, Crown Prince Christian, 19, is acting as a regent in his father's absence. Although fans are likely excited to see Frederik in attendance, many fans are eager for Princess Kate to attend this year's Wimbledon.

The 43-year-old has not been in attendance so far, but, as the Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, she has typically presented the trophy at the Men's Final.

Frederik and Mary will also embark on a royal tour around some of Denmark's municipalities onboard the Royal Ship Dannebrog in August.

Mary, who have been married to Frederik since 2004, reportedly has no engagements to fulfil in the next few weeks so it is likely that she is also currently taking some time away from royal duties.

The couple will likely visit their annual summer retreat to Gråsten Palace in South Jutland this year. The Danish King and Queen attended a dinner and ceremony at Aarhus Town Hall last week.

The visit took place to mark Denmark's takeover of the EU presidency. While her husband donned a smart suit for the occasion, the Queen stepped out in a stunning red Max Mara jumpsuit.

The Duchess of Gloucester will be heading to Wimbledon on day eight of the tournament, as well as for the semi-finals on July 11. The 79-year-old, who will sit in the Royal Box, is Honorary President of the Lawn Tennis Association.
