In a significant move to empower the youth of Bihar, the state government is launching a new internship scheme named “Mukhyamantri Pratigya Yojana”. This initiative aims to provide young individuals with hands-on work experience in reputed companies while offering a monthly stipend of up to ₹6,000, depending on their educational qualifications.
Announced on July 1, 2025, by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, this scheme is part of a larger employment and skill development push approved during the recent cabinet meeting. Officially called CM PRATIGYA (Promotion of Readiness, Awareness, and Technical Insights for Guiding Youth Advancement), the program is designed to connect the state's youth with meaningful internship opportunities.
The goal is to offer at least 1 lakh internships over the next five years, enabling young people to gain industry exposure while easing financial pressure through government-funded stipends.
The stipend structure under the scheme is based on academic qualifications:
Qualification | Monthly Stipend |
---|---|
12th Pass | ₹4,000 |
Diploma/ITI Holders | ₹5,000 |
Graduates/Postgraduates | ₹6,000 |
Additionally, if a candidate is placed outside Bihar, they will receive ₹2,000 extra per month for the first three months to cover relocation and other expenses.
To be eligible for the Mukhyamantri Pratigya Yojana:
Applicants must be residents of Bihar.
Age should be between 18 to 25 years.
Minimum educational qualification is 12th pass.
For higher stipends, candidates must have completed Diploma, ITI, or Graduation.
Must have completed a skill development training program.
For the FY 2025–26, only 5,000 candidates will be selected; next year, 20,000 candidates will be enrolled.
The Labour Resource Department is finalizing a list of participating companies, which will be uploaded to an official portal soon. The application process is expected to begin within 15 days.
Application will be online via the official portal.
Youth can register, browse the list of companies, and apply as per their interest and qualifications.
Selection will be conducted jointly by government officials and company representatives, based on applicant eligibility and availability of positions.
To apply, candidates will need:
Aadhar card
Educational certificates
Proof of skill development training
Passport-sized photo
Domicile certificate
Caste certificate (if applicable)

While the Bihar government is not guaranteeing permanent jobs under this scheme, the internship is expected to boost employment prospects significantly. Companies may offer job placements based on the candidate’s performance during the internship period.
