BBC Breakfast meteorologist Carol Kirkwood, who is also a best-selling author, has opened up about retiring one day. The 63-year-old has become a fan favourite on the breakfast show and often updates her fans on social media.

In a new interview, Carol was asked whether she plans to retire from TV anytime soon, and luckily for fans, the BBC Breakfast star admitted she loves her job.

When asked about retirement plans, Carol responded, "Don't say that; you'll get me sacked! And I love my job; I can't imagine not doing it."

She added to the Radio Times: "There will be a day, obviously, when that happens, but for now I still love the weather. Each day is different, you know?

"We're an island, and the weather changes all the time, so it's always interesting."

Carol went on to discuss the tirade of online abuse she faces, and she doesn't care what anyone thinks of her.

She went on: "I'm just doing my job to the best of my ability and hopefully improving myself on a daily basis, whether people think I'm capable or not. Titles don't really matter."

This isn't the first time that Carol has spoken about being trolled online. In a previous interview, Carol said trolls would "get personal".

In an interview with The Herald in 2014, she said, "They're being personal, but they don't actually know you, so you let it go."

"When someone says, 'I've seen that dress seven times in the last month, stop wearing it,' you think, 'You wouldn't say that to somebody in the office'. But you take it on the chin," she went on.

The full interview can be read in the upcoming issue of RadioTimes.

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
