Michael Jackson's death came as a huge shock to the world. He had been in rehearsals and performing a lot before his sudden demise back in June 2009 aged just 50.

Dubbed the King of Pop, he is regarded as one of the most culturally significant figures of the 20th century, with an impressive music career spanning four decades. The superstar certainly left his mark on the world and even died in a notable moment - with his last words believed to have been linked to the very thing that killed him. There were conflicting reports at the time of his death as to what Michael Jackson's final words were but his doctor, Conrad Murray claimed the singer had two statements near the end of his death.

He said that Michael had been asking for "milk" before his death - a nickname for Propofol, according to the doctor. It was later revealed to be one of the drugs that had caused intoxication, leading to Jackson's death, along with benzodiazepine.

The drug that Jackson claimed to have been asking for was an anaesthetic, nicknamed as such because of its opaque, milky appearance.

To be exact, Conrad said the singer asked, as reported by the LA Times: "I'd like to have some milk. Please, please give me some milk so that I can sleep, because I know that this is all that really works for me."

The doctor added that, referring to his ongoing tour, Michael reportedly said: "Just make me sleep. Doesn't matter what time I get up... I can't function if I don't sleep. They'll have to cancel it. And I don't want them to cancel it, but they will have to cancel it."

According to Conrad, who was the last person to see the singer before he was rushed to hospital, these were Michael's final words.

The doctor had been issuing Michael with various drugs before his death. Conrad was later convicted with involuntary manslaughter for his role in Michael's death.

During the trial, his licence to practise medicine and administer heavy sedatives was revoked and has remained so to this day.

Michael's former wife, Lisa Marie Presley, also opened up on what Michael's final words were to her. She recalled the worrying conversation that she had with him, saying:

"The final part of the conversation was him telling me that he felt that someone was going to try and kill him to get hold of his catalogue and his estate. And I really didn't know what to do with that... He expressed to me his concern over his life."
