Freddie Flintoff has shared an update about the future of his BBC series, Field of Dreams. Following his horrifying crash on Top Gear, the TV star returned to the series in which he created a cricket team with a group of promising young lads from his hometown. The smash hit series saw Freddie take the group on an unforgettable trip to India in a bid to change lives through sport. The show was a huge success and landed Freddie an RTS Award nomination, and now we have an update regarding the show's future. The cricketer confirmed that he's wrapped filming on the third series and it will feature three new teams.

Speaking to The Telegraph, he explained that the trip was "life-changing". He said: "All the boys are doing well. But what I didn't envisage is what I got from it. Going to India with these boys helped me so much... it's getting bigger and bigger."

The new teams include two boys' squads from Bootle and Newton Heath and a girls' team based in Blackpool. Freddie added: "We've just finished another one. I don't know what's going to happen after that. [...] If you give kids a chance, they're all right, aren't they? Kids are good!"

In December 2022, Freddie left Top Gear after he was hospitalised following a car accident during filming at a test track in Surrey. The former England cricketer suffered serious injuries when his vehicle flipped and slid along a track. Freddie sustained broken ribs and horrific facial injuries as a result, and he was later deemed "lucky to be alive" after the collision.

In March 2023, the BBC apologised to Flintoff and settled the incident last year with a compensation package reportedly worth a colossal £9 million.

During an episode in season two of Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams on Tour on the BBC, the sports star shared a home video taken at the height of his recovery. The video shows his facial injuries at their worst and his emotional state.

In the video, a visibly shaken Freddie tells the camera: "Week and a half after my accident. Genuinely should not be here after what happened. This is going to be a long road back and I have only just started and I am struggling already. I need help. I really am not the best at asking for it. I need to stop crying every two minutes."

Freddie also announced a new Disney+ documentary earlier this year, which explored the serious impact the car crash had on his life.

Speaking about the 90-minute film, he said, "Looking back on the highs and the lows, including the challenges I've faced since my accident, has been a real reminder of why my career in the sport has meant so much."
