Suddenly, Reese yanked the clipboard and slapped it from the coach’s hand. The move echoed similar sideline moments from her former LSU coach, Kim Mulkey. The audience’s reaction was immediate. “Son, I’m crying,” read one fan tweet. The assist coach appeared stunned, but no injuries were reported.
Angel Reese nearly recorded another stellar double-double that night. She scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. It was her sixth straight game with at least 15 rebounds, a WNBA record. But the Sky fell 81-79 to the Mystics on a late free throw by Shakira Austin with 2.1 seconds left.
