Professional tennis player Carlos Alcaraz is one of the favourites to win this year's Wimbledon, having won the tournament for the last two consecutive years and currently being ranked as the world number two in men's singles. The Spanish tennis player has certainly made a name for himself in the sport, but away from the courts has a close family network and enjoys some rather lavish perks of his career.

At just 22 years old, Alcaraz is at the top of his game, having already won five Grand Slams - the 2022 US Open, the 2024 and 2025 French Open (also known as the Roland Garros) and the 2023 and 2024 Wimbledon. At the age of 19, the 2022 US Open was his first major title win, and during that time, he became the youngest and first teenage world number one in ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) history.

He's made further history along the way, becoming the third-youngest man to win five Grand Slam titles in history, trailing behind Nadal and Bjorn Borg. With his notorious and consecutive wins, Alcaraz is hoping to add a third Wimbledon title to his name, but what do we know about the superstar player off the court...

Family life

The tennis star, whose full name is Carlos Alcaraz Garfia, was born on May 5, 2003, in El Palmar, Murcia, Spain, to his parents, Carlos Alcaraz González and Virginia Garfia Escandón. He comes from a family of boys with an older brother, Álvaro, and two younger brothers, Sergio and Jaime.

Alcaraz picked up a tennis racket at the age of four and joined the Real Sociedad Club de Campo de Murcia, where his dad, who had previously played the sport, was a tennis coach. At just 11 years old, his talents were picked up, and he was introduced to coach Juan Carlos Ferrero - who remains in this role for Alcaraz today.

He appears to be close to his family, with his parents and older brother, who is often his hitting partner, regularly spotted in the crowds during tennis tournaments. He spends time at his parents' home in Murcia, where he grew up, and lives in a modest 90-square-metre bungalow in Villena, Alicante- near his tennis training centre.

Romance

British tennis sensation Emma Raducana, 22, is counted among his ardent supporters, frequently caught courtside during his matches, including sightings at Wimbledon, where she is also competing. In a thrilling professional link-up, the sports stars recently revealed they'll team up for mixed doubles at the US Open this August, fuelling speculation that their on-court chemistry mirrors a blossoming friendship off-court.

Rumours of a potential romance stirred following sightings of the duo at Queen's Club, arriving "within minutes of each other" during the tournament, which Alcaraz clinched. A source revealed to The Sun: "Emma and Carlos' friendship was the talk of Queens - people think there is something going on between them because they have such a spark," before going on to add further juicy 'details'.

"He was apparently seen at her hotel last week and on Thursday and Saturday, when Emma went to support him, Emma's car arrived just minutes after Carlos got to Queens with his team. Inside, they were seen laughing and joking with one another. They seem very happy and relaxed with each other."

While they are yet to confirm any form of romance, Alcaraz previously opened up about his bond with fellow tennis star Raducana as they team up on the court. He shared: "I know Emma since a really long time ago. I have a really good relationship with her. It's going to be interesting. We are both going to enjoy, for sure. I will try to put my doubles skill on it. We will try to win. But obviously it's going to be really fun."

Lavish lifestyle

Now said to be worth £30million, since rising to fame as a tennis sensation, Alcaraz has been spotted hanging out with several A-list celebrities, including actor Tom Holland. The pair recently had a photo together at Wimbledon, where Alcaraz commented on Holland's golf skills, to which he mentioned about the pair hitting the golf course together.

Away from the spotlight, Alcaraz keeps his life relatively private and only shares a handful of photos on his Instagram of time spent away from the court.

Some snaps include spending time with his friends, exploring various cities, including Paris, and a trip on a private plane while playing chess - fancy!
