Mumbai: A tragic incident has emerged from the Yashwant Nagar locality in Santacruz (East), Mumbai, where a 32-year-old Chartered Accountant took his own life. The individual, identified as Raj Leela More, reportedly consumed poison on Tuesday, allegedly due to being blackmailed for Rs 3 crore related to a private video. Authorities discovered a three-page suicide note at the scene, in which he named two individuals, Rahul Parwani and Saba Qureshi, as being responsible for his distress.
Raj was said to be overwhelmed by the ongoing harassment, leading him to this heartbreaking decision. The Vakola police have since filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the two suspects, including a woman, under charges of extortion and abetment to suicide.
Investigations revealed that the accused had extorted nearly Rs 3 crore from Raj over the past year by threatening to release his private video.
Raj's mother expressed that he had been under significant mental strain for several months. The police noted that the accused were aware of Raj's substantial investments in the stock market and his lucrative salary as a Chartered Accountant at a well-known firm.
In the suicide note, Raj detailed how the accused coerced him into transferring large sums from his company's accounts under the threat of making the video public. Reports indicate that they also forcibly took a luxury vehicle from him.
He addressed his mother in the note, expressing his apologies and urging his family to look after themselves. Raj also extended apologies to his colleagues for betraying their trust and mentioned a 'fraud' he committed, requesting that no repercussions be faced by his coworkers. The final page of the note explicitly named the accused, describing their actions as manipulation and blackmail over several months.
Raj lamented that he was compelled to deplete his savings and misappropriate funds from his company's account to satisfy their demands.
According to reports, Raj wrote, “Deepa Lakhani, today I have no words to apologise, because I broke your trust. But believe me, this was the last time. I had no intention to break your trust. Whatever fraud I did, I did it myself; no one came to know anything. I did not manipulate the statement (account). Shwetha.”
