BBC viewers have reacted online after Hugh Grant appeared to "fall asleep" during a Wimbledon tennis match. The 64-year-old was seen attending Centre Court to watch the Men's Singles Quarter-Final fixture between Novak Djokovic and Flavio Cobolli. During one segment, the camera panned to the Royal Box where Hugh was sitting and wearing a pair of shaded sunglasses as his head with slightly tilted downwards. BBC Sport then shared the viral clip on X, adding the caption: "It's all got a bit too much for Hugh Grant," with a laughing face and sleeping emoji. Many fans who are watching the match also spotted Hugh and reacted to his appearance online.
One person said: "Not even Djokovic can keep Hugh Grant awake today." A second also commented: "Other highlights, Cobolli takes the first set against Djokovic and Hugh Grant is snoozing in the Royal Box, bless him!"
A third also defended Hugh and typed: "Hugh Grant is awesome! End of." A fourth viewer at home also chimed in: "Can anyone confirm if Hugh Grant has woken up yet?" A fifth also said: "Hugh Grant has fallen asleep in the Royal Box at Wimbledon!!"
The actor was spotted arriving at Centre Court alongside his wife, Anna Elisabet Eberstein, earlier this afternoon. They watched the Ladies' Singles quarter-final match between Mirra Andreeva and Belinda Bencic, before watching Novak Djokovic and Flavio Cobolli.
Hugh was seen wearing a black suit with a navy tie, while his wife Anna donned a cream midi dress and paired her outfit with large sunglasses and styled her hair in loose beachy waves.
Hugh was not the only leading celebrity guest to watch some of the on-court action today. BBC broadcaster Nick Robinson was also present at Centre Court.
Yesterday, Sir Ian McKellen and Sienna Miller made an appearance, and opera singer Katherine Jenkins attended with her husband, Andrew Levitas.
Academy Award winner Sir Mark Rylance also visited Centre Court yesterday, and celebrity chef Marcus Wareing was in attendance alongside his wife Jane.
