Netflix's new music contest show Building the Band has unveiled its fresh line-up of performers in a series that's being described as a mash-up of The Voice and Love is Blind.

The innovative musical challenge has landed on Netflix, inviting 50 hopefuls to perform with the aim of forming their own band. Yet, there's a catch - they sing in private and are isolated in booths, unable to see each other, selecting bandmates solely by voice, compatibility, and connection.

But not all will succeed, as only six bands will emerge, with just one taking the crown. The first four episodes have been released on Netflix today, July 9, with the platform promising: "Plenty of drama, next level artistry and unforgettable performances."

With five bands already established, only one spot remains. However, episode four concluded with a tantalising cliff-hanger, leaving Alison to decide her fate, reports the Mirror US.

Will she join forces with Cece and Mandy or opt for Elise and Haley? The answer remains hanging until July 16, when episodes five to seven drop.

Here's everything you need to know about the five bands that have made it so far.

Band One features Aaliyah, Cameron, Donzell, and Katie. Aaliyah, aged 23, started out in an African American singing-and-dancing troupe at just four years old, performing her first solo in Swahili.

Cameron, also 23, began his professional singing career at nine and has been pursuing his dream ever since. Joining them is 25 year old Donzell, a die-hard fan of Maroon 5, and Katie, 24, who boasts fluency in Spanish.

The second band is an all-male group, featuring Landon, Shade, Bradley, and Malik.

Bradley, 23, has the unique ability to "recite the movie The Notebook in its entirety", while 21-year-old Landon has experience from four different jobs in the food industry. They're accompanied by 28-year-old anime enthusiast Malik and 27-year-old Shade, who has a passion for streaming.

The third band comprises Wennely, Nori, and Brianna. Film buff Wennely, 25, is joined by roller-skating enthusiast Nori, 24, and Brianna, also 24.

Audiences may recognise Brianna from her past fame as a Mouseketeer in Club Mickey Mouse and as the singing voice of Velvet in Trolls Band Together. Interestingly, it was revealed on the show that Wennely and Brianna had crossed paths at an audition a decade ago.

The fourth band is made up of boys Mason, Conor, Zach, and Shane. Shane, 22, has amassed more than a million followers on social media, consistently posting three times a day for four years.

He's joined by 22-year-old Zach, who claims he "started humming before I could talk." Mason and Conor also possess unique talents, with Australian native Mason skilled in playing the didgeridoo, while 22-year-old Conor can juggle.

He shared: "When I was a kid, I wanted to run away with the circus. I know how to ride a regular-sized unicycle and a five-foot unicycle. I can also juggle."

The fifth group is made up of Jenna, Autumn, Noriella, and Erica. Autumn, a film school student, is part of the band, along with 24-year-old Erica, who has been nailing "Christina Aguilera riffs when I was, like, six years old".

Jenna, aged just nineteen, stumbled onto the show while "out singing karaoke with friends and accidentally booked Netflix". And Noriella, 24, is equally passionate about her vocals. She shared: "I opened for Sabrina Carpenter and Boyz II Men in the same year, and when I'm not singing, I'm probably somewhere fishing."

Audiences are left hanging for Band Six's identity, as it remains TBC. Those eager to know must tune in next week.
