The Aadhaar card in India has become an important part of the identity of every citizen today. Whether it is to take advantage of government schemes, opening a bank account, or any other important work, Aadhaar card is necessary everywhere. But now to make Aadhaar card or change it, you have to be more careful than before. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has recently implemented new rules, which are important for Aadhaar card holders. These changes not only apply to Indian citizens, but are also applicable to overseas Indians (OCI card holders), children above 5 years of age, and long -term visas to foreign nationals living in India. Let us know in detail about these new rules and necessary documents.

Categories of documents required for Aadhaar card

UIDAI has divided the documents into four main categories to make and update the Aadhaar card and update: Identity proof (POI), address of address (POA), date of birth proof (dob), and proof of relationship (Por). The information about which documents are valid under these categories is available on the official website of UIDAI. This ensures that every person can complete the process to Aadhaar with correct and reliable documents.

Proof of identity

Many types of documents will now be accepted for identity proof. These include passports, PAN card, voter ID, driving license, government photo identity card, NREGA job card, pensioner ID, and transgender identity card. Apart from this, digital documents such as e-PAN and E-EPIC (Digital Voter ID) have also been recognized. These documents not only verify your identity, but also make the process even smooth.

Proof of address

For the address of the address, now you have to submit fresh and reliable documents. These include electricity, water, gas or telephone bill, bank passbook, ration card, registered rent agreement, or residence certificate issued by the government. But note, these documents should not be more than 3 months old. This condition ensures that your address is correct and updated, which reduces the chances of mistakes in the base database.

Date of Birth (Proof of Date of Birth)

If you want to update the date of birth in your Aadhaar card, then documents like passport, school marksheet, pension documents, or the birth certificate issued by the government will be valid. UIDAI verifies every information through these documents, so that the details recorded in the Aadhaar card are completely accurate. This step further strengthens the reliability of the Aadhaar card.
