The ICC men’s Test batting rankings have seen a big change recently. Harry Brook of England has secured the first place, leaving his compatriot Joe Root behind. In the first innings of the Birmingham Test against India, he played a brilliant innings of 158 runs and went 18 points ahead of the route with 886 rating points. Earlier, Brooke was number 1 for only one week, which was in December last year.
At the same time, Indian captain Shubman Gill performed well in this Test series. In the Edgbaston Test, he scored 269 and 161 runs and became the second player to score more than 150 runs in both innings. He jumped 15 places from this performance and has now reached the best sixth rank of his career. He started this series from 23rd place, while earlier his highest ranking was 14th.
Indian all -rounder Ravindra Jadeja also contributed significantly to this Test. He scored 89 and 69 not out and now climbed six places to 39th position in the list of batsmen. Jamie Smith of England, who played 184 unbeaten and 88 runs innings, joined the top 10 for the first time. He has got the benefit of 16 places.
Talking about bowling, Akash Deep and Mohammad Siraj of India have also improved the ranking. Akash Deep took 10 wickets in the match and got the best 45th rank of his career by climbing 39 places. At the same time, Siraj took six positions by taking seven wickets and has now reached 22nd place.
Vian Mulder of South Africa also performed brilliantly in the calling Test. He scored an unbeaten 367 runs, which is the highest score of any South African batsman. With this, he jumped 34 places among the batsmen and reached 22nd place. Also, due to taking three wickets, he has reached the 48th rank in the bowlers and the best third of all -rounders. At the beginning of this series, he was ranked 73rd, 58th and 22nd respectively. He took a total of 531 runs and seven wickets in two Tests.
