A preliminary investigation report of the tragic accident of Air India flight AI-171, which took place in Ahmedabad last month, can be released this week. 260 people died in this horrific accident. According to sources, this information was recently shared in the meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee to Transport, Tourism and Culture, stating that the report would be made public within a month of the incident.

Senior officials of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau of Investigation (AAIB) told the committee that both black boxes associated with the Boeing Dreamliner aircraft have been recovered. These black boxes are being analyzed with the help of experts from the National Transport Safety Board of America (NTSB). Along with decoding, it is also being mixed with the technical data of the aircraft and the final contact with Ahmedabad ATC.

Essential high-technical equipment ordered from America

The high-technical equipment required for the analysis of the black box has been ordered from the US and has been assigned to Delhi-based Aaib. Keeping security in mind, the black box was brought from Ahmedabad to the capital by different aircraft. Experts also informed that the debris of the crashed aircraft has been kept in a safe place near Ahmedabad Airport. There, parts of Dreamliner have been rebuilt so that physical damage can be studied and it can be linked to the data from the black box.

In the meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee held on Wednesday, many members expressed concern that the earlier recommendations were not implemented. Representatives of airlines like Air India and IndiGo also attended the meeting at the meeting.

In the meeting, there was a holistic discussion on security under the chairmanship of JDU MP Sanjay Jha, but focused on AI-171 accident. A few seconds of this aircraft took a few seconds after flying, B.J. The medical college hostel was hit, causing 260 people, including 241 passengers and crew members.

Hearted debate in PAC meeting

In another meeting of PAC (Public Accounts Committee), there was a sharp debate on this accident. Although the agenda of the meeting was airport fee, the AI-171 accident and the issue of aviation security took the focal point. The MPs raised questions about the lack of security audit and the weaknesses of surveillance on DGCA and BCAS. CEO Campbell Wilson of Air India was also present in the meeting. He said that Dreamliner is the world’s safest aircraft and is in more than 1,000 aircraft operations globally.

Former Civil Aviation Minister and PAC member Praful Patel said that DGCA lacks experienced officers, which should be taken to the help of retired experts to fulfill. He said that every passenger wants security and this should be our first priority. Patel assured that India’s aviation system is strong, DGCA is capable and airlines are following security standards. However, he also said that when a major accident occurs, additional vigilance and transparency becomes necessary.
