Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh is witnessing intense monsoon rains, leading to flood-like conditions in several districts including Mandla, Narsinghpur, Umaria, Shivpuri, Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol-Sagar, and parts of the Gwalior division.

The weather department has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in 14 districts and an orange alert for heavy rainfall in 22 districts today (Thursday).

Districts on red alert are: Jabalpur, Narmadapuram, Betul, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Damoh, Mandla, Balaghat, Dindori, Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur.

Weather expected on Thursday 

For Thursday, an Orange Alert for extremely heavy rainfall has been issued for districts like Jabalpur, Narmadapuram, Betul, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Damoh, Mandla, Balaghat, Dindori, Umaria, Shahdol, and Anuppur.

Up to 8 inches of rainfall is expected in these areas over the next 24 hours. 

Additionally, a Yellow Alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Sehore, Raisen, Sagar, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Katni, Satna, Maihar, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli.

These regions may receive 2.5 to 4.5 inches of rain in the next 24 hours.

Cities like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Dhar, Badwani, Khargone, Sheopur, and Harda may also experience rainfall, and a rain alert has been issued for these districts as well.

What do meteorologists say?

Senior meteorologists said that two monsoon troughs and an active cyclonic circulation system are currently affecting the state. In the coming days, a low-pressure area is expected to strengthen, bringing even more rainfall.

Rain is expected to continue for the next 4 days, till July 13. On July 12, heavy rainfall is likely in Malwa-Nimar regions, including Indore and Ujjain, where the monsoon has been weak so far.

Rain records

Till now, almost all districts have received rain along with strong winds. Damoh recorded the highest rainfall at 4.1 inches, Shivpuri saw 3 inches, Naugaon and Satna received 1.8 inches, Tikamgarh had 1.5 inches, Sagar recorded 1.1 inches, Raisen had 1 inch and Bhopal saw over half an inch of rain overnight.

Weather expected in next 2 days 

July 11: Heavy monsoon rains continue to lash Madhya Pradesh, prompting the weather department to issue an orange alert for extremely heavy rainfall in 20 districts including Jabalpur, Shivpuri, Sagar, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, and Betul, where up to 8 inches of rain is expected in 24 hours. 

A yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for over 30 districts including Bhopal, Gwalior, Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, and Singrauli, while cities like Indore, Ujjain, Neemuch, and Mandsaur are likely to see light rainfall. Residents are advised to stay alert and follow safety precautions.

July 12: Madhya Pradesh is experiencing intense monsoon activity, with an orange alert for extremely heavy rainfall issued for districts like Sheopur, Shivpuri, Guna, Ujjain, Sagar, Raisen, and Ratlam. 

Meanwhile, a yellow alert for heavy to moderate rainfall is in place for major cities including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Rewa, and Guna, along with over 30 other districts. Light rain is expected to continue across several parts of the state. Residents are advised to stay cautious and follow weather updates.
