The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has announced a 4% rebate on property tax for citizens who make online payments between July 1 and September 30, 2025. Property owners who missed the earlier deadline to avail of the 10% early-bird discount are urged to clear their dues now to benefit from this second phase of rebate.

Earlier, PCMC had granted a 10% discount to those who paid their property tax online before June 30, 2025. This incentive was availed of by as many as 3.37 lakh property owners. The current 4% rebate is now available as a follow-up incentive to encourage more citizens to shift to digital transactions.

Surge in Online Payments Reflects Growing Digital Adoption

The response to PCMC’s online rebate schemes over the past six years shows a steady rise in digital payments. In 2020-21, 88,090 property owners paid online in the first quarter. This grew to 1.11 lakh in 2021-22, 1.28 lakh in 2022-23, 2.09 lakh in 2023-24, 2.60 lakh in 2024-25, and has reached 3.37 lakh in the current financial year 2025-26—clearly indicating increasing trust in the online system.

Crackdown Begins on Tax Defaulters

Alongside rewarding timely taxpayers, PCMC has initiated recovery actions against defaulters. The Property Tax Department has so far issued pre-seizure notices to 34,769 property holders across its 18 divisional offices. In cases where payments continue to be delayed despite warnings, the civic body has begun initiating attachment proceedings.

“We are consistently working to improve transparency and efficiency in our tax collection system. The rising number of online taxpayers reflects citizens’ growing trust in PCMC. Those who have not yet paid are urged to do so immediately and avail themselves of the 4% rebate,” said Pradip Jambhale Patil, Additional Commissioner, PCMC.

“To promote digital transactions, PCMC continues to offer rebate schemes on online payments. The enthusiastic public response reinforces the credibility of the civic administration. This rebate is a token of appreciation for timely taxpayers. However, strict action, including penalties and attachment, will be taken against defaulters,” said Avinash Shinde, Assistant Commissioner, PCMC.
