The Indian Express Group and Screen, a publishing house, announced the Screen Academy on Wednesday. The academy clarified that the academy is not being set up for professional advancement. The main objective of the Screen Academy is to provide a suitable platform to budding artists. The institute will help budding artists who want to make a career in the Indian film industry develop their skills, as well as provide them with guidance. Cannes and Oscar award winners Guneet Monga, Payal Kapadia, Resul Pookutty and veteran screenwriter Anjum Rajabali will work as members of the Screen Academy.
In the coming days, many promising individuals will be associated with this organization. Through this, new talented filmmakers from India will be able to be educated in world-class filmmaking. Through this education, many opportunities will be given to the newcomers to present their art. The Screen Academy has expressed its belief that these new faces will create an independent identity. Abhishek Lodha, founder of Lodha Foundation, provided financial assistance for the establishment of this academy. The Screen Academy will provide basic education to film to the newcomers. Scholarships will be given to students for postgraduate courses.
Students cannot apply directly for the scholarship. They will have to be recommended for the scholarship by their previous film training institutions. Details of the application process are available on the website www.screenacademy.org .
“The Screen Academy is being set up at the right place and at the right time,” said the Chief Minister of the state, Shri. Devendra Fadnavis, praising the Screen Academy. He further said, “Mumbai city has an unbreakable bond with the film industry. This academy is being set up at the right place at the right time. I am very happy to hear that the Screen Academy, an institution started by The Indian Express Group, is being started on a non-profit basis. The budding and trained filmmakers who learn from this academy will make a valuable contribution to the Indian film industry. The Indian film industry will develop rapidly due to these new talented artists,” expressed the Chief Minister, Shri. Devendra Fadnavis.
Under the Screen Academy Fellowship 2025 ,
students will be provided with full financial assistance for their postgraduate studies. This postgraduate education will be available at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune, Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in Kolkata, and Wheeling Woods International in Mumbai. In the future, the Screen Academy plans to expand its presence across the country. This will enable the academy to include various film schools across the country.
