If you are a salaried employee and have an Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) account, then there is good news for you. In fact, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), the body that manages your PF, has now credited the fixed 8.25 per cent interest for 2024-25 to 96.51 per cent of the accounts. This means that the interest amount will have come to your account as well.

According to the Labour Ministry, interest of about Rs 4000 crore has been transferred to EPF accounts so far. The money will also reach the remaining accounts this week. Now the question is how to find out whether you have received interest or not? You can check your PF balance with the simple methods given below

Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave information

According to Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) will complete the process of depositing the remaining amount by the end of this week, which will benefit crores of employees across the country. This means that if you are a working professional and have a PF account, your latest interest installment has already been deposited or will be deposited soon.

This year, the annual accounts of 13.88 lakh establishments with 33.56 crore member accounts were to be updated, out of which interest has been credited in 32.39 crore member accounts of 13.86 lakh establishments till July 8. This means that the annual accounts update of 99.9 per cent establishments and 96.51 per cent member accounts has been completed,” the minister told reporters.

When was the approval received?

The Central Government’s approval for crediting interest on EPF savings at the rate of 8.25 percent for the current year (2024-25) was received on May 22, 2025. Accordingly, preliminary work was started immediately and the updating of annual accounts started from the night of June 6, 2025, he said.

The Minister said that the process of crediting interest to the members’ accounts for 2023-24 started in August and was completed in December. He said that now the process has been streamlined to be completed at a faster pace, due to which the entire process is completed in June itself. He further said that the annual accounts in respect of the remaining establishments are also expected to be completed this week.

When was the decision made?

On February 28, the EPFO had decided to retain the interest rate on Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) deposits at 8.25 per cent for the financial year 2024-25, which is the same as the rate given in the previous financial year. The interest rate approved for 2024-25 was sent to the Finance Ministry for approval.

The interest rate decision was taken at the 237th meeting of the EPFO Central Board of Trustees, chaired by Mandaviya, in New Delhi on February 28. Compared to many fixed income instruments, EPF offers relatively high and stable returns, leading to steady growth in post-retirement savings.
