New Delhi. India’s Harikrishnan A. Ra has become 87th Grandmaster of India. 24 -year -old Harikrishnan achieved his third Grandmaster Norm at La Plane International Chess Festival in France on Friday and became the 87th Grandmaster of India in the country. Harikrishnan was associated with Grandmaster Shyam Sundar Mohanraj’s academy in Chennai in 2022. Mohanraj’s happiness has not been a place for Harikrishnan becoming a grandmaster.

Mohanraj is more happy because within a few months, two players of his academy became Grandmaster. Srihari LR was the 86th Grandmaster of India and now Harikrishnan has achieved this feat. Harikrishnan achieved his first Grandmaster Norm a few years ago and then achieved the second norm at the Anduzar Open in Spain. Mohanraj remembered the time when he could not prepare a grandmaster for more than a year. Mohanraj remembers the time when Harikrishnan, who has become an international master, came to his academy to get guidance to become a Grandmaster.

He said, in two months, the academy has prepared two Grandmasters. It is very good because of the grandmasters I have been training for the last two-three years. It is a matter of great relief for both me and Harikrishnan because they lost two consecutive Grandmaster Norms.
