Kuwaiti travellers can now apply for an Indian visa without stepping into a consulate. Beginning Monday, July 13, 2025, India has officially launched its e-Visa service for Kuwaiti passport holders, a move expected to boost tourism, business, and cultural exchange between the two nations.
The announcement came from India’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Adarsh Swaika, who called it a “qualitative shift” in diplomatic engagement. The decision marks a long-awaited upgrade for Kuwaiti citizens, who previously had to go through in-person procedures to obtain an Indian visa.

An Indian e-Visa is an official document permitting entry into and travel within India, issued electronically after an online application. It covers various purposes, including tourism, business, medical treatment, and conferences. The e-Visa is linked electronically to your passport and does not require a physical stamp before travel.
The e-Visa platform is fully digital and supports five visa categories:
That means no paperwork, no embassy visits—just an internet connection and a valid passport.
This affordable, long-term access is expected to encourage more Kuwaiti visitors to explore India’s rich culture, medical facilities, and business opportunities.
The e-Visa rollout is more than a tech upgrade; it’s a diplomatic signal. Kuwait and India have long shared strong historical, trade, and cultural connections. By easing travel restrictions and modernising visa access, India is making a direct effort to strengthen people-to-people ties.
The move is also part of India’s broader “digital diplomacy” strategy, which aims to streamline foreign services across the region.
