They have also applied for admission in the MBBS course. This decision of theirs has now become a new challenge for the Medical Admission Committee of the state, because usually such things are rarely seen.

Three senior citizens in Tamil Nadu have shown that there is no age for studies. Recently, three elderly people of the state did what no one was expecting. While young children commit suicide due to the pressure of studies, these three candidates aged 68, 67 and 60, two of whom are lawyers by profession, have passed the NEET exam this year and now they have also applied for admission in the MBBS course. This decision of theirs has now become a new challenge for the Medical Admission Committee of the state, because usually candidates pursuing medical courses at this age do not come forward.

25 candidates above 35 years

According to the officials of the State Selection Committee, this year at least 25 candidates above the age of 35 are in the race for admission in medical and dental courses. Officials said that this is the first time since 2017 that such a large number of middle-aged and senior citizens are trying to get admission in medical courses. Let us tell you that the National Medical Council (NMC) has already removed the age and attempt limit for appearing in the NEET exam, so that now a person of any age can appear in the medical examination. Under this, all three elderly students took the exam and also passed it

Applied under this quota

The surprising thing is that some senior candidates have scored so many marks that under the state government's reservation policy in which a total of 69% seats are reserved, they can study in government medical colleges at concessional rates or in private colleges for free. All three have applied under the 7.5% special quota reserved for government school students, which gives eligible students an opportunity to study MBBS in government or private institutions without fees.
