West Indies captain Hayley Matthews has been crowned the ICC Player of the Month for June 2025, after winning exploits on the global stage.

She became the second cricketer in history to win the ICC Women’s Monthly award four times, joining Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner in the elite club.

Matthews outclassed South Africa’s Tazmin Brits, who had a century in the ODIs and veteran spinner Afy Fletcher, who was the leading wicket-taker across both series.

She put up an impressive performance with bat and ball during the West Indies tour of South Africa, amassing 104 runs across three ODIs, including a fifty in the final match, and also picked up four wickets.

She went on to score 147 runs at a strike rate of 120, including two fifties and picked up two wickets, helping West Indies seal a 2-1 win.

Her consistent excellence earned her the Player of the Series award in the T20I. “It’s always an honour to be recognised globally, but the bigger satisfaction is helping my team win. We’re building something special.”

“It’s an honour to receive the Player of the Month award again. I’ve been pleased with my form recently, but more importantly, it’s been great to contribute to the team’s success, especially in a hard-fought T20I series against South Africa.”

“Recognition like this is appreciated, but my focus remains on what’s ahead. There’s a lot more I want to achieve, both personally and with this team,” Hayley Matthews said.

Meanwhile, Aiden Markram has been na as the Player of the Month for June 2025. He outclassed fellow teammate Kagiso Rabada and Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka.

Both players were crowned following a vote conducted among global fans registered at ICCcricket.com and a specialist panel comprising former international players and media representatives.

Fans can continue to vote every month for their favourite cricketers across all formats of international cricket in the ICC Player of the Month awards by registering at the official website.
