UPSC CSE Mains 2025 exam timetable released, exams will start from this date

This year, UPSC CSE Mains 2025 exams will be conducted to fill 979 vacant posts in prestigious services like IAS, IFS and IPS, whose time table has been released. Let us tell you when the exam will start.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the exam schedule for Civil Service and Forest Service Exam 2025. This is a big news for all those candidates who have passed the UPSC Civil Service Prelims Exam. UPSC has announced the dates of UPSC CSE Mains 2025 exam to be held on the official website. Let us tell you when these exams will start and in how many shifts they will be conducted.

Exams will be held in the month of August

According to the information given by UPSC, UPSC CSE Mains 2025 examinations will be conducted next month i.e. at the end of August 2025. For this, 5 different dates have been selected. Let us tell you that the UPSC CSE Mains 2025 exam will be conducted in two shifts on 22, 23, 24, 30 and 31 August 2025. The first shift will be from 9 am to 12 noon and the second shift will be from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Candidates will be able to download the UPSC CSE Mains 2025 Admit Card a week before the exam. Candidates are advised to keep checking the official website of UPSC for the latest updates.

What is the pattern of UPSC Civil Services Mains Exam 2025?

The Civil Services Exam follows a three-stage selection process which is Prelims, Mains and Interview. The first stage consists of 2 objective type papers and both are of 200-200 marks. For Paper II (CSAT), candidates are required to score a minimum of 33% marks. Both papers are in English and Hindi.

The Mains exam consists of two qualifying papers namely Paper A (Indian Language) and Paper B (English) and these carry 300 marks each. These do not count in the final merit list. The papers that count towards the merit list are Essay, General Studies Papers 1-5 and two papers of one optional subject. Each of these seven questions carry 250 marks.

After clearing this, candidates are called for an Interview/Personality Test which carries 275 marks. There is no minimum qualifying marks required for the interview.
