Tesla has finally entered India and the prices are out for it's first product for India which is the Model Y. Imported into the Indian market, the Model Y has attracted duties which means a price-tag of Rs 61.07 lakh on-road for the RWD and Rs 69.15 lakh for the LR RWD with more range. So how does it compete with the BYD Sealion 7 and the BMW X1 LWB?
The BYD Sealion 7 comes in dual motor form unlike the Tesla Model Y in India where apparently the dual motor isn't listed. The Sealion 7 single motor meanwhile comes with a price of Rs 51.80 lakh while it has an 82.56 kWh battery pack with 482km range. The dual motor BYD Sealion 7 is much quicker with 530bho while range goes down to about 456km.

The Model Y RWD has a 60kwh battery pack with a claimed range of about 500km. Power is about 295bhp. The LR or the long range version meanwhile has a bigger 75kwh battery pack with a range of upto 622km.
The X1 LWB meanwhile only comes in a single motor configuration and develops 204bhp while range is about 531km with a 66.4 kWh battery pack . The price though is competitive at Rs 51.9 lakh.

When compared with its immediate rivals, the Model Y comes across as a bit expensive since it single motor form it is considerably more expensive than the BYD Sealion 7 dual motor and the BMW X1 LWB. However, the battery pack for the LR is quite big and the range is more than its rivals even though it is less powerful than the Sealion 7.
