MPPSC EWS Reservation: Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has taken an important decision for the candidates of the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category. The 5-year age relaxation given to EWS candidates in the state government recruitment examinations has been abolished. That is, candidates who come under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category can now apply only up to the age limit of 40 years, like the general category. Earlier, EWS people had a time up to 45 years. Recently, MPPSC has given information about this by issuing a notification.
This decision was taken after the decision of the MP High Court.
In February 2022, the commission started giving the benefit of age relaxation up to 45 years to EWS candidates like SC, ST, and OBC categories. MPPSC has made this change after the decision of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. This rule was challenged in the MP High Court, which held that age relaxation is applicable only for reserved categories, while the EWS category has been given the provision of only 10 percent reservation in the Constitution. In such a situation, there should be no relaxation in the age limit. The court held that EWS is not a socially backward class, so giving them relaxation in the age limit is a violation of the rules.
The appointment of selected candidates can be canceled.
