Donte DiVincenzo Officially Becomes Italian Citizen, Set to Represent Italy in EuroBasket 2025
Donte DiVincenzo is about to live out a lifelong dream, and it has nothing to do with the NBA playoffs.
The Minnesota Timberwolves guard has officially received Italian citizenship, clearing the way for him to suit up for Italy’s national team in this summer’s EuroBasket 2025 tournament.
DiVincenzo had previously shared his desire to represent Italy on the international stage, and now it’s a done deal. In an interview earlier this year with BasketNewshe said he was just waiting on the paperwork:
Those documents have arrived, and Italy just gained a solid, experienced guard.
DiVincenzo, a 2021 NBA champion with the Milwaukee Bucks, had a strong season with the Timberwolves in 2024-25, averaging 11.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 62 games, including 10 starts. Known for his hustle, perimeter defence, and ability to knock down threes, he brings a well-rounded game that could be a real asset for Team Italy.
Italy will compete in Group C of EuroBasket 2025, alongside Cyprus, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, and Spain, making for a highly competitive field. The tournament will run from August 27 to September 14, hosted across Cyprus, Finland, Poland, and Latvia.
For DiVincenzo, this is more than just a tournament; it’s a personal milestone. And for Italy, it could be a game-changer.
