New Delhi: Hype, the creator-friendly feature introduced by YouTube, is now available in India. The tool will be used to assist smaller content creators with less than 500,000 subscribers and make them visible and reach new audiences. With Hype, content creators have an opportunity to transfer their videos to a leaderboard based on a particular country, giving them higher likelihoods of appearing on the YouTube homepage.

The Hype button is now shown right beneath the Like button on any video that it is applicable to. People can use it to promote a video in the first seven days after the release, and each individual can hype three videos a week without paying anything. The greater the number of hypes a video attracts, the more points it gets, taking it closer to the top of the top 100 hyped videos in the explore section of YouTube.

How the Hype leaderboard works

The leaderboard is the display of the most-hyped videos in India and is refreshed periodically. The more a video ranks, the more likelihood it has to be promoted throughout YouTube. Videos on the leaderboard can even have special badges, which indicate that they are popular with the audience.

YouTube has been giving the smaller creators with fewer subscribers additional points to help them even out the playing field. This implies that smaller channels stand a chance of getting to the top. In early tests conducted in Turkey, Taiwan, and Brazil, Google said that videos were hyped more than 5 million times by over 50,000 different channels.

Hype is among other creator tools released in 2024 across the world. The others are automatic dubbing of multilingual content, digital gifts in live streams, and the Inspiration Tab in YouTube Studio that relies on AI to propose video ideas, titles, and thumbnails. YouTube Hype is one more attempt to enable creators to develop more rapidly and attract more audiences.
