Do you know how a person’s Aadhaar card is deactivated after death? Recently one RTI A shocking figure has surfaced under (Right to Information). According to RTI, only 1.15 crore Aadhaar cards have been deactivated in the last 14 years, while the number of deaths in this period is far more.

Why is it necessary to deactivate the base of the deceased?

The Aadhaar card has become necessary everywhere as proof of identity and address – from banking to government schemes. In such a situation, the basis of a dead person can cause active, digital fraud and forgery. For this reason, UIDAI has provided the online process of cancellation of Aadhaar.

How to do Aadhaar Dectivate: The whole process

  • Go to the official website of UIDAI: uidai.gov.in
  • Login – The family member will have to login from his mobile number through OTP.
  • Go to Biometric Services section and select the option “Report Death of Family Member”.
  • Fill the necessary information of the deceased person – Nam, Aadhaar number, date of birth etc.
  • Scan and upload the death certificate.
  • Submit the application – after this the process will begin.

According to UIDAI, it may take a maximum of 90 days to neutralize the Aadhaar card.

Who can apply?

Uidai According to the guidelines of the family, only members of the family of the deceased can give this request. These include:

  • Spinner
  • Parents
  • children
  • Brother or sister
  • legal guardian

Keep in mind that this process is considered valid only by the family member.
