West Indies all -rounder Andre Russell has announced his retirement from international cricket. Although this decision will not be implemented immediately, he has indicated that now his international career is towards termination. He will say goodbye to international cricket after two T20 matches against Australia at Sabina Park, his home ground. The first match will be played on July 20 and second July 22, which will be the last match of his international career.

Russell is active only in T20 International since 2019

Russell has been active in T20 International since 2019. He has played 84 matches in this format so far. Apart from this, he also has a Test and 56 ODI matches in his name. His retirement will take place in February 2026, just seven months before the next T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka, which is being considered a big loss for the West Indies team.

In a conversation with ESPN Cricinfo, Russell was emotional and said that representing the West Indies was the biggest achievement of his life. He said that when I was a child, I never thought that I would reach this point. But Prem inspired me with this game and I wanted to make an identity for the West Indies.

Russell scored 1078 runs in 73 innings

Russell further said that he likes to play in front of his people at home and wants to end his international career in a memorable way. He has so far scored 1078 runs in 73 innings, including 3 half -centuries. His strike rate has been 163.09. He has also been effective in bowling, where he has taken 61 wickets.

His farewell decision is not only important for West Indies cricket, but is also an emotional moment for cricket lovers around the world.
